Laurie is a recent graduate of Cardiff University, having achieved a First Class (Hons) Masters in Chemistry.
Having started tutoring during their first year at university, Laurie has several years of experience supporting students in GCSE and A Level Chemistry, Physics and Mathematics. They believe that every student learns differently and tailor each lesson to suit the individual, adapting explanations and lesson structure so students feel engaged rather than overwhelmed.
Their fourth year involved the completion of a placement project for a professional laboratory specialising in synthetic organic chemistry, incorporating elements of biology as well as computational modelling. Laurie had responsibility for designing this project and this industry experience has strengthened their analytical thinking and problem solving skills, which they bring into every lesson. Their goal is not just to improve grades, but to help students become independent thinkers and confident learners.
In their spare time, Laurie is a passionate pianist, drummer, and avid linguist, having studied to varying levels Mandarin Chinese, Spanish, Norwegian, and Japanese. This helps support their travel-centred lifestyle, which itself brings a love of the outdoors and exotic tastes.
