Gin is an experienced tutor with over 10 years of tutoring, mentoring, and teaching experience. They graduated from the British International School HCMC in 2016, achieving an outstanding 43/45 in the IB Diploma – including a 7 in English Literature (HL) and a 6 in Mathematics (HL).
Gin earned a BA in Comparative Race and Ethnic Studies from DePaul University (GPA 3.9) and an MFA in Writing from the University of California San Diego (GPA 4.0). Their academic background reflects both strong analytical thinking and advanced writing skills, which they bring directly into their tutoring.
Gin has taught college composition to students of all skill levels, helping them strengthen their reading, writing, and research skills. In 2024, they designed and taught their own upper-level course focused on writing and workshopping short fiction.
Alongside their English expertise, Gin also has a strong background in Mathematics, achieving outstanding results across their IGCSE, IB & SAT qualifications, including 720 in SAT Math and 790 in SAT Math Level 2.
As a tutor, Gin takes a student-centered and goals-oriented approach. Supporting students to build strong foundations in English, Mathematics and SAT prep. They believe in fostering critical thinking, creativity, kindness, and a sense of justice in all learners. Gin is dedicated and encouraging, whilst providing students with thoughtful and constructive feedback that builds confidence and independence.
Outside of work, Gin enjoys resting, observing the world, cooking, exploring the theatre and arts and spending time with loved ones.
