Sophie is a passionate and academically driven tutor with an MSci degree in Chemistry from the University of Birmingham, where she achieved first-class honours. Her final year research focused on anode materials for Li-ion batteries.
She has also undertaken an independent master’s research project focused on advanced computational modelling to improve solid-state materials for renewable energy.
Sophie thrives on making complex scientific ideas accessible and engaging for learners of all levels.
Her love for education began through voluntary leadership with the Scout movement, where she supported primary students in developing core skills in a nurturing environment. During her Summers, Sophie gained a wide range of experience working with younger students. Teaching combines her passion for science with her love of learning, where Sophie believes high expectations thrive in a supportive environment.
With a warm and supportive teaching style, she’s committed to inspiring a lifelong curiosity in science.
Outside the classroom, Sophie leads an active lifestyle, whether at the gym or outdoors. Her love for baking and reading occupies much of Sophie’s free time.
